PLYMOUTH MEETING - The turnaround continues as Pennridge won its third game to open the 2008 season. Last year, after a disappointing three win season, the Rams tackled the latest task of Plymouth Whitemarsh, 21-7.
"They've been better with their assignments and technique and we're seeing the results," Pennridge coach Randy Cuthbert said.
The Rams' Ian Walbridge scored on the first play from scrimmage and Colonials answered right back on their first possession. From that point on, both defenses pinched and shut down the offenses.
After halftime the Rams came out fired up to break the tie. After a quick three-and-out for the Colonials, the Rams ran down the field and Walbridge took it in from five yards out for his second touchdown of the day.
The Colonials' defense improved immensely from their first two games, but it still wasn't enough. Brad Herrmann rushed down the sideline for 18 yards to cap of the victory.
The Rams' defense was the best it has been all season, allowing only 80 yards of total offense.
Kyle Crowder, the Colonials' captain, rushed for 58 hard yards.
"They were stacking the line," Crowder said. "Our blockers did well tonight, but it wasn't enough."
