Pennridge falls short of Souderton

SOUDERTON -Friday was a back and back forth game between cross town rivals Pennridge and Souderton. The sloppy weather coincided with sloppy play. The Indians' five fumbles however did not hurt them as much as the interception and two missed extra points did the Rams. Behind a rejuvenated defense the Indians held off the Rams 20-19.

The Rams flirted with dangerous calls on multiple fourth down attempts and they were successful early. Zach Knepp caught a 16-yard pass from Brad Herrmann on a fourth down play in the first quarter, but a blocked extra point attempt came back to haunt the Rams.

Olivia O'Neill's second game as the kicker for the Rams, she had one blocked and another she booted wide left.

Indians' kicker Shawn Leo had two clutch field goals at the end of the second half to give Souderton a seven-point lead at the break. Leo's second field goal of the night was 47 yards, a new Souderton record.

Then when the Rams needed to convert on fourth downs in the second half, the Souderton defense buckled down.

Clinging to a lead, after Justin Powell and Denis Passarella touchdown runs, the Indians pounded the rock to hold on to the win. The Indians had 233 yards on the ground. Powell had 143 of them own his own tough running.
