Pennridge tackles Hatboro-Horsham

PERKASIE - Friday's Suburban One Continental Conference battle between Pennridge and Hatboro-Horsham was a tale of teams going in opposite directions. With the hot Hatters coming to Poppy Yoder on Homecoming Night, the Rams ended their three-game losing streak with a 20-7 victory.

Other than a 45-yard keeper by Hatters' quarterback Dan Lineberger early in the first quarter, the Hatters were frozen on offense.

A new dedication to tackling for the Rams held senior workhorse Mike Bobrin to 29 yards on 15 carries. Coach Tom Butts thought he would be able to run inside the tackles on an undersized Rams' line, then gash them for the big play through the air, but it was not the case.

Runs of 50 yards by Jesse Knepp and 31 yards by Ryan Metzler set up Ian Walbridge for the first score. Quarterback Brad Herrmann gave the Rams the lead with a gutsy 22-yard run with time expiring at the half.

The Herrmann keeper going into the locker gave the Rams the momentum and they came out ready to close for the first time in three weeks.

The defense picked off Lineberger three times and Walbridge kept the clock ticking and the Hatters' offense off the field. Walbridge's 66 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter helped give the Rams their first win in the conference and their fourth win overall.
